Q:I think they're called thermosetting plastics and can only be heated and shaped once.....
Yet, thermosetting plastics are one example, although they can be recycled...to some limited extent...by grinding and using as inert filler in some other plastic. Another example is fiberglass-reinforced printed circuit boards. William Gibson has made the comment, in one of his novels, that they were using them...after scraping off the solder and electronics...as materials to laminate for handles of knives, because there was so much of it.
Q:How to identify BPA plastic products?
Bis Phenol A is found in a very wide variety of plastics.Products containing BPA have been in commerce for more than 50 years, and its current uses are numerous. It is used in the synthesis of polyesters, polysulfones, and polyether ketones, as an antioxidant in some plasticizers, and as a polymerization inhibitor in PVC. It is a key monomer in production of polycarbonate plastic and epoxy resins. Polycarbonate plastic, which is clear and nearly shatter-proof, is used to make a variety of common products including baby and water bottles, sports equipment, medical devices, optical lenses, CDs, and household electronics. Epoxy resins are used as coatings on the inside of almost all food and beverage cans. There are a lot of concerns about the health dangers of BPA. It appears that it is very difficult not to come in contact wit it in everyday activities.
Q:what are plastics used for?
Plastic objects can be mass-produced and are usually less expensive than other materials such as metals. Plastics consist of linkages of relatively long chains of molecules and often remain flexible. Plastics can be used as thin films for coatings or wraps. Plastics can resist heat and cold within useful limits and may be used to package foods although that may require special plastics that will not leech out harmful substances. Plastics can be used to fabricate credit cards (nicknamed 'plastic' money).
Q:instead of packing foods in cans why don't we pack every thing in reusable plastic and recycle every thing we use with out the waste?
Plastic have been used ever since it existed and I would still say that it is harmful especially to our environment because it takes years to decompose. Now, if you want cheaper used for packaging we have recycled bags of today which have been recommended to be used.
Q:Ok so I want to make a smooth Phantom of the Opera mask like in the play itself (not movie) . I found out it was made of a plastic resin.....what is a plastic resin exactly and what would I need to make a mask? My dad knows how to work with algenate and using plaster to make an exact copy of my face. Would I need to do that and then sculpt the plastic onto the mold of my face or what? Basically, what is a plastic resin, do I need a copy of my face, where can I get the plastic, how to make the plastic smooth, and how to shape the plastic? Thank you to anybody who can answer 1 or all of these questions....I thank you in advance for ur help.
Lamp + Plastic = Plastic Lamp. Tada.
Q:I need like an 5 or 8 hr way to glue plastic together, and it will stay solid, something like JB weld but a quicker dry.
Superglue
Q:What are the chemicals found in plastics? Is it making more money than the expense of running the process? What type of engineering processes are involved?
Plastics are made from petroleum. They are basically hydrocarbons, but sometimes with other elements. Newer plastics are being made from corn. many plastics are extruded.
Q:what numbers are unsafe for plastic bottles?I know that 7 is bad and that is all what are all the other Numbers or brands? Also does anyone know what products contain the chemical phthalate?
I threw ALL my plastic out and switched to glass just to be on the safe side. i now use Born Free glass bottles. Besides those plastic ones start to stink after a while no matter how much you wash them
Q:Some kinds of plastic wrap can be stretched tightly over a container and down its sides. The plastic wrap sticks to the sides of the container? Why?
complicated issue. seek in the search engines. this may help!
Q:I have a 1.5 gallon tank (shut. Up.) with a plastic plant in it. Would it hard my crowntail betta?
plastic plants in betta tanks aren't recommended because it can tear up their fins. i suggest getting silk, but prefer a real plant because it will definitely help with the water chemistry :) hope i helped!
