- There are some doctors who say not to cook with aluminum as over time the metal can enter your system and harm you. I do not know what they say about non-stick whether there are dangers or not but i don't like them anyway. I prefer iron skillets and stainless steel for pots. And the iron does get into your system but you need a certain amount of iron. I guess in buildings it is used because it is light.
- Q:What is the reason for the grooves that go around the circumference of a tin/aluminium can? It can't be for grip because they're covered with paper anyway and i don't think it would make much difference.
- If they didn't, they would easily be crushed during shipment. It makes them much stronger to have the grooves. Norrie's got a good point.

- aluminum is very biologically unavailable- most forms of aluminium you will come in contact with wont really react with your body. And yes aluminium is actually coated in a thin layer of its own oxide (aluminium oxide) to prevent the entire thing rusting. If it was unsafe to use alot more people would know about it. You are totally fine to grill things in foil and to put foil covered things in the oven!

I've been looking around but every web site i've been on only says that aluminium comes from rocks, but it doesn't say how you get it from rocks.e.g you get wool from sheep by shearing of their coat.so if anyone knows how you get aluminum from rocks please tell me i need your help.
- Well, you start with an aluminum rich rock (cheaper to process). The raw ore after physical concentration (removal of secondary minerals) is reacted by an electrolytic process. This means that electricity is used to convert the aluminum ion in the raw rock into the metal aluminum. Sort of like the reverse of a battery, to keep things simple. Aluminum smelters tend to be set up in places with cheap electricity, because the process uses a LOT of electricity. That is why there are several up here in quebec, we have cheap hydro electricity and the government gives decent deals to the smelters on top of the already low market price. Do a search on aluminum smelting to find out more. Not sure what your level of knowledge is so not sure how much you will understand.

- It matters! All metal corrodes! I don't care what others say because they don't know. Wipe down your gun good and put a good heavy oil or Break free CLP on them and place them in a good sock protector or sealed case in a cool climate controlled dry place with some moisture packs inside.

- The jury is still out on this one. Aluminum in the body has been directly connected as a causal factor for alzheimer's disease. Think about this : Small amounts of it are infused in many of the things we eat and drink every day. Any food or drink item that comes from an aluminum container has small amounts of aluminum that has leached into those items that you then eat/drink. Aluminum cooking pots/pans are said to leach aluminum into the foods that are prepared in them. Even cooking with aluminum foil adds to the amount of aluminum you are slowly accumulating within your body and brain tissues. The amounts of aluminum we take into our bodies in these ways may be individually small and insignificant as far as health hazards are concerned. But when you add them up over the course of a lifetime the amount becomes rather alarming. As far as aluminum dental tools or prosthetic oral devices braces....who knows how much they contribute to health issues associated with one's overall lifetime exposure. Like I said in the beginning, the jury is still out on this one.
- Q:also, can aluminum become oxidized when secured down with metal nuts and bolts vice stainless steel nuts and bolts?
- The oxidation is the white powdery stuff on the metal. It can be cleaned with aluminum cleaner. Exposure to the weather can cause the rust, electric current. I advise using a sealer on the metal to keep it clean.
- Q:I had recently went to the doctors where I had blood work ran. Turns out, I have high aluminum count in my blood! Is there any ways that can detoxify aluminum out of my body? - Q:I need to lay down two 3 welds on some 1/8 aluminum but my welder is not set up for it. could i just out fit my welder with aluminum wire without buying the spool gun and get the same results? or maybe I should just get a welding shop to do it for me?
- Hi. You need a spherical tip on, say, a mig welder to be successful when welding aluminum. Spreads out the heat better.
