Q:im melting aluminum and what should i use for metal. cans will just oxygenize( i forget the word for it sorry)
aluminum, in general, will just oxidize if heated in air. it is not just cans that behave that way when they (alcan, alcoa) smelt aluminum industrially they keep it in a reducing environment and do not allow molten aluminum to contact air. so use any aluminum you like but prevent it from contacting air.
Q:Which is better - a steel roof or an aluminum roof?
Steel, lasts forever.
Q:Hey everybody I'm trying to improve the performance of my vintage metal Coleman cooler I just got. To test it I filled it up with water bottles and 5lbs of cubed ice from Stop and Shop and left it in the closet with the dorm's AC set to 65. When I got back 28 hours later the ice was completely melted. The water still kept the drinks cool for several days after that, but I'm frustrated that the ice melted in a single day.
Aluminum foil has zero R factor (insulation factor). However, if it put on the outside of a cooler it will reflect the sun rays away from the cooler, and make it easier for your cooler to keep things cool. Gel packs are slightly better than extra ice (depending on the amount/concentration of glycol alcohol in them) -- gel packs are popular because they are self contained and not as wet and messy as melted ice. Edit: Well, indoors the aluminum would not be a complete waist. Heat waves from inside the house would still bounce off the aluminum. But the other answerer mentioned a very good way to further insulate your cooler. Just attach (tape or glue) stryrofoam sheets to the outside of your cooler == that would be a big time improvement.
Q:ok-so lately I've noticed that everytime i wrap food in aluminum foil it starts to eat tiny holes in it! so far it has happened when I put it on chicken breasts and froze them--over a warm eggplant parm that i put in the fridge and now, today on coleslaw--which was never hot! what the heck is going on? I've never seen this before! any ideas? it is a name brand foil too...tx!
Was there tomato in it? You cannot put tomato or acidic things on aluminum foil (or at least you are not supposed to. Don't use foil to store foods that are high in acids. This means tart fruits and dishes made with vinegar, tomatoes, or tomato sauce. After a few days in foil, the acids in lasagna, for example, interact with the aluminum and erode the foil.. Small amounts of aluminum can then migrate into the food, creating both pinprick holes in the wrap and a metallic taste in the lasagna. Also, white spots (actually aluminum salts) can form on these foods when their acidity reacts with the aluminum. Theoretically you can cut these spots away; they're not harmful. But they are certainly not appetizing either, so stick to plastic storage for the acidic goods. I got the above paragraph from aluminum foil Do's and Don'ts
Q:How much will be burned out if the soaked and oxidized 5182 aluminum coil is melt down and reprocessed?
Burn out rate is generally between 1% -2.5%, but that varies among plants as their actual situations are different.
Q:What is virgin aluminum? I can't find anything about it, is it just another word for aluminum? Is there a difference?
The word virgin means pure and free from any other metals but aluminium comes in a few different forms like stainless steel does so unless you know the originallity of pure aluminium I doubt if you will ever know Ask the person who is selling virgin aluminium he will instruct you how to find out what the difference is all metals come in different gauges so there must be some unanswered questions
Q:high-quality hi-fi power and amplifiers generate large amounts of heat. to dissipate the heat and prevent damage to the electronic components, heat-radiating metal fins are used. would it be better to make these fins out of iron or aluminum? specific heat capacities for aluminum and iron are 0.89 J/degrees C.g and 0.45 J/degrees C.g, respectively. explain your answer
Aluminum, because it dissipates heat faster.
Q:need to know the procedure for removal of aluminum windows with brick trim
1st off let`s determine what kind of windows you have. Examine the inside of the jambs. Are there any screws going through the jamb into the rough opening? If so you have a masonary style window. Chances are they can be removed relatively easily. Most the time removal of fastners, scoring of drywall and caulk and they practically fall out (sometimes). You may find removal of the sash and remaining glass, then collasping the frame will work best. This technique is a must if you have the other breed of window, the flanged. You can ID this window by measuring the inside and out . If they`re the same, it`s flanged. I`ve found 99 time out of 100 these windows can be collasped. Once again remove sash and all glass. Here`s where the sawsall comes in. Remove the center bar. Drive a flat bar under the sill from the exterior. Pry it up as high as you can. Cut the sill. Now drive the flat bar between the side jambs and the brick and start prying. Most of the time these windows are only nailed on the corners, sometimes the fin will rip from the jamb. But in the end the removal will be accomplished. If you find you need to pry from the interior, don`t pry against drywall. Put a piece of wood under your bar to protect the drywall. NEVER! pry on tile or marble. I`ve removed literally thousands of these little buggers. Can`t only remember maybe a handful of times I had to cut a flange. GOOD LUCK!!!!!
Q:where is aluminum found in the world or in the universe?do u think aluminum is more valuable to people than gold?why or why not?im just lazy to look up the answers and person 4 best answer 10points
where is aluminum found in the world aluminum is in fact the third most common element in the Earth's crust, and it is the most common metallic element on Earth. In a pure form, aluminum is silvery white and extremely lightweight. aluminum is more valuable to people than gold? aluminum continues to remake the modern world. We can see it everywhere; in architecture, transportation, electrical cables, communications and consumer products. Because it’s light-weight, strong, versatile and easy to recycle, aluminum is becoming more and more valuable in our daily lives melting point and boiling point Melting Point: 933.437 K (660.323°C or 1220.581°F) Boiling Point: 2792 K (2519°C or 4566°F)
Q:I am looking for a deoderant that doesn't contain aluminum that actually works. I have tried Tom's natural deoderant and didn't get to use it long enough to see if it worked because it really irritated my skin and caused it to burn and peel. I have also tried the one made by Adidas and it seemed to work pretty well through the winter months, but now that it is getting warm again I'm noticing that it isn't quite doing the job anymore.
aluminum zirconium is the chemical that makes you stop sweating, not that it works on most people. they can only put a certain percentage of it in deodorants, try the degree clinical, i just started using it and it seems to be doing okay, good luck i know what you are going through.
