Q:How to mix solid aluminium sheet with solid copper sheet (using heat?) to make a compound.
I don't think you can make them into a compound, but by heating them to a certain temperature, I believe you can turn them into an alloy, or solution of metals.
Q:Would a chemical reaction happen between a piece of copper and a liquid solution containing a compound of aluminum? Why or why not? FIRST BEST ANSWER GETS POINTS!
No. Copper metal will not reduce aluminum ions to aluminum metal. We can observe that copper is below aluminum in the activity series, which indicates that the Cu + Al3+ reaction is nonspontaneous. The other way round will work, sort-of. Aluminum metal will reduce copper ions. But it takes freshly prepared aluminum metal. Aluminum metal passivates, that is, it reacts with oxygen to form an Al2O3 layer on the surface of the metal. The presence of chloride ion will help provide a clean Al surface.
Q:Where does China make aluminum plate?
In many parts of the country have aluminum factory, the old state-owned enterprises have 101, SWA aluminum plant, located in the southwest, northeast china. The emerging aluminum processing base in Henan, due to resource advantages, the largest aluminum factory, the price is relatively low.
Q:iron-based alloys over aluminum in structural members of bridges and buildings?
Strength-to-weight ratio.
Q:I have been doing this science prac at school and I have received some strange results. I measured the density of this metal, which leads me to believe it is Aluminium. Also, its silvery appearance supports this. When I have attempted to react it with Hydrochloric Acid, Sulfuric Acid and the nitrates/chlorides of a few metals, I have received some odd results.Despite having a high reactivity, the only substance it has reacted with so far out of all of the above is Tin Chloride. Am I doing something wrong? Is it possible that it isn't aluminium and rather a similar metal such as zinc? Thanks in advance :)
Aluminum is very reactive so what happens is that it has a coat aluminum oxide as soon as it comes in contact with oxygen the outer layer forms aluminum oxide Al2O3. That is why Aluminum does not rust. The Al203 coat protects it.
Q:on the metal activity series, aluminum sits between magnesium and zinc, and all three sit above hydrogen. Explain why aluminum typically reacts only slowly with dilute acids even though both magnesium and zinc react rapidly
Aluminum metal reacts with oxygen in the air to form a very tightly bonded aluminum oxide on its surface which slows the attack of acids trying to make contact with the aluminum atoms below the surface.
Q:I am following a recipe for braised ribs that calls for wrapping the ribs in heavy duty aluminum foil. I don't have heavy duty, so can regular aluminum foil be used as a replacement?
It can, but regular foil can tear more easily and make a big mess. I use regular foil if I don't have heavy duty, but I double it when I use regular foil.
Q:What is the usage of aluminum sulfate for every ton of paper produce for kraft paper and news print
Aluminium sulphate was the most extensively used chemical raw material in the papermaking industry. Its primary use was in the rosin sizing of paper where the rosin soap was reacted with aluminium sulphate to impart hydrophobis characteristics to the paper. The alum had a side benefit in fixing all types of anionic substances into the paper web. All types of paper, even those that were not sized, such as newsprint, were made using alum. This resulted in the paper being made under acidic conditions. The technology has changed markedly over the last 10 to 20 years with synthetic sizing agents being developed which do not require reaction with alum. In my country there is not 1kg of fine writing and printing paper made with rosin/ alum sizing, and no alum is used at all. Various synthetic highly charged cationic resins have been developed, such as polyacrylamide resins, polyethyleneimine resins, etc, whic are used as fixing and retention agents, so that alum has been virtually eliminated. To sum up the importance of aluminium sulphate as a papermaking chemical is now very limited.
Q:a 1 kg block of aluminum and a 1 kg block of lead are immersed in water, Both sink, but which experienced the greater buoyant force? Why?
1 kg of Aluminum will require more volume to occupy since it is lighter than lead. Lead has more density to Aluminum. So, when immersed in water Aluminum will displace more volume of water than lead. The buoyant force is equal to the Mass of water thus dispalced . Thus we can say Aluminum will experience more buoyant force.
Q:heating can affect aluminium
This is science so, if you want specific answers, you must ask specific questions. What type of aluminum are you interested in? What characteristics are important to you? What kind of factors are you talking about? You are right that heating can affect Al. In fact, heating affects, basically, everything, every material we know of and every physical and chemical process that we do and every process that happens in nature. Temperature is important in all of these. There are more than a hundred different commercial aluminum alloys and most of them are available in a variety of different tempers (heat treated conditions). The heat treatment of commercial Al alloys is a very important thing. If you want more specific information, consult your friendly neighborhood metallurgist.
