Q:I have 1994 Ford F-150 and my wipers usually start working good and then slow down a little over time as I‘m driving and then a couple times they would actually stop working. I couldn‘t turn them on for awhile. Would the windshield wiper motor be going out or a short in the wiring or does anyone know what it might be?
it could be the wiper motor its self or just the wiper switch that's located in the dash of your truck bc ive had the same problem and it turned out to be the switch in the dash. its around a 15 dollar part and took me less then half an hour to put it in on a 91 f150
Q:Some time ago the passengers windshield wiper completely fell down and just stopped working. There‘s this sort of slab going across the hood right in front of the windshield where I can see that the windshield wipers were attached to each other by some hinge. What was happening is that one was moving and in turn pulling the passengers wiper at the same time. The bolt fell off and so they‘re not connected anymore.I don‘t know how to open that slab piece.I took my truck to advanced auto and he said that Fords are tricky and I might have to take it to a shop.Any clue how I‘m supposed to open this to fix the bolt? Or even what sort of bolt I might need to use? Thanks
Easy fix the rail that holds the arm has a bad gromit you can replace the gromit or drill out with 1/8 drill bit put in cotterpin thur it would be best bet on repairs to wiperarm
Q:My windshield wipers make that chatter noise when they are turned on. I tried Rain X and followed the directions, but that just made them worse. Any ideas on how to make them stop doing this? The blades, old ones and the news ones, both make this noise. I adjusted them too, but nothing seems to work. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Make sure that the wiper arms are not binding/rusted at the spring pivot point. The arm should spring back fast when released. If it binds, spray WD-40 on the pivots until they are soaked. Then lift them and release them as many times as it takes to make them snap back. Don't buy cheap blades. The Bosch Icon blades cost more but mine are 4 years old and still work great. They don't freeze up with snow and the small wing/foil which is built in keep the blade on the window at high speeds.
Q:On my 95 Ford Escort, one day i pulled up on my driver-side windshield wiper because they were frozen. I pulled the wiper in the path it follows on the windshield and it seems to have striped the part it‘s held on to, because it comes out across the windshield and I have to stick my hand out the window to set it back while driving. It also rests up further than the other one when I turn them off. I took off the wiper, set it back down to where it should be and turned them on and they still come out over the side of my windsheild at speeds above 50km/h. Any help on fixing it please?
sounds like you stripped the splines in wiper arm. there should be tiny ridges on inside of hole on wiper arm. these things are made of crap metal so when you forced it to move without motor on you prolly just torn little teeth off. take arm off look at it if inside is smooth or almost smooth you need to replace arm. hit the junk yard and get another check to see that it is good first. use a small screwdrive or *wince* knife to clean bits off metal out of splines on the motor shaft re-align wiper arm make sure the spline lock together and tighten as tight as you can get it. if its not tight enough the splines will strip off again given some time. The shaft on drive motor is tapered so tighter arm is the better grip splines get.
Q:i have a civic hatch that im almost done building and one problem that keeps going through my mind is that i have a rollcage in the car and that rollcage goes through the front and blocks where the windshield wiper assy. goes. i dont want to cut the left bar ( to keep the car stiff) any ideas?
check there is the correct amount of fluid in the gearbox and it is a deep red colour.
Q:2005 impala. wipers will only park in straight up position, not down. could it still be the park switch in the pulse module not shutting off at the proper time?
do you turn them off before you turn car off?
Q:My windshield Wipers DO NOT turn off on my 04‘ GMC Sierra 1500 Extended cab. I am assuming it a short in the electrical, But does any one else know what the problem can be?
Sounds like the switch may be bad. Check and see if the wipers are on a separate fuse and if they are you could pull the fuse until you can get it fixed. If you need the wipers to work just pop the fuse back in. It is a pain but at least you won't have to watch the wipers work all the time when you don't need them to work. Isn't it funny, when you use the wipers they don't bother you at all, but if they are working when you don't need them it will drive you crazy with them wiping!! It's kinda like heat and air. In the summer months when it is hot we have to have good cold air to keep cool but then when it is cold outside we have to have good hot heat to stay warm!!
Q:Has the 05 Chevy Impala ever been recalled for defectives windshield wipers?
desert snow will do just fine :) good luck
Q:Yesterday morning, I started my car, with the defrost, and began scraping the ice off. After i finished the car, I started my wipers to get the extra snow and ice off my windshield. When i went on my lunch break that day, i noticed that the one on the passenger‘s side was loose (just the actual blade, not the whole thing) so i think that can just pop back in. But the one on the right will start about an inch, and then not go anywhere. I read online that i may have busted the motor, or a bolt might just be loose. I can‘t see anything wrong, but i have no idea what to look at :(anyone know anything about this???
Take the car to one of the many auto parts stores, such as Pep Boys, or any parts store. they might install a new set of blades for you, right there in the parking lot. Our local auto parts stores will do that. You have probably broken the blade, not the motor. Also, maybe the part of the wiper arm that goes onto the drive mechanism might have come off or loosened up, so have them check it. Last resort is go to the dealer and pay thru the nose! It is a good idea, when scraping the windshield, to free up the blades, if they are frozen to the glass, or into the snow on the windshield. That way they won't break when you forget to free them and turn on the wipers!
Q:I just bought a new windshield wiper motor for my car, amp; when it replaced it turned the wipers on amp; they moved in reverse! They want to stop at the top position. When they try to move down, they move way past the bottom of the windshield, i don‘t know what‘s going on! Any suggestions? I‘m not 100% familiar with where the ‘tab‘ is for the alignment of this car, i‘m having troubles with that. (If it even has one!) yikes.
Defiantly not cool. Assuming you changed the motor with a factory or better unitSome low end motors have reversed polarity. But sounds like you may have the wipers 'timed' wrong. First, take the linkage off at the motor. Then, with the ignition on turn the wiper switch on then off and check where the motor shaft stops. After that, you install the linkage with the wipers positioned at the bottom of the windshield.
