Steel is almost all elemental Iron (Fe) with a small percentage of carbon (about 0.2 percent) and other alloying metals if required. Iron as in cast iron just has more carbon which lowers the melting point to where it can be cast with lower technology (it was discovered first). Bessemer developed a process to remove most of the carbon and increase the furnace heat, resulting in a tougher metal called steel.
Q:does anyone out there know where to get a good deal on a pedal steel guitar? i am from northern indiana and i'm willing to travel some if i have to.i am just getting into pedal steel guitar and i really don't have any idea what i need. i don't know how to play a guitar (i do know how to play the piano and the drums) at all but i want to learn to play the pedal stell guitar and i can't do that without getting one first so, if anyone can help me out i would greatly appreciate it! :o)
Pedal steel guitars are a challenge to learn but they're a great instrument. More, even a starter pedal steel is going to run you $800 or so. Elderly Instruments in Lansing, Michigan sells a Carter brand starter pedal steel for $795 which is about as low as I've seen new ones. It has 3 foot pedals and 4 knee levers so it's nicely equipped. From northern Indiana it's not that far I would think. Good luck.

It is great for knives because it stays chromed looking without rust. The steel is very hard so holds an edge for a long time. If it contains enough nickel it also is not magnetic, which some applications need this trait It is used for exhaust pipes in good cars, because it doesn't corrode from exhaust like common steel will, so the exhaust pipes last very long. Stainless is used for sinks, ovens, and kitchen appliances because it holds a shine, is very durable , doesn't crack or get burn holes like plastic would. It doesn't rust and is easy to clean and has a good color. It is used on exterior building panels for the same reason , plus it adds the same structural strength as regular steel without the maintenance of painting and rust removal. It is great for pans because you can scrub it without scraping it and it conducts heat well and cleans easily because the surface is smooth and hard So it has the same advantages of strength and fabrication as regular steel, without the downside of rust and ugliness. More cost (it contains chromium and nickel which are expensive) and harder to weld is two of it's shortcomings

Metagross would help out a lot, Excadrill id you are not doing double battles... (two of his best moves for him hit his team and are ground.. ) if you do not want to rick excadrill use a Lucario instead for hs massive damage output.
Q:why do you need to heat steel when hardening, molecules etc etc
Gary is right, but maybe I can simplify it. It's very complex..... When you heat (hardenable) steel the carbon and iron form crystalline structures. Martensite and Austenite are most prominent, but there are others. Those are the hard crystals. When you quench it, those structures don't have time to dissolve as they would with slow cooling, so you freeze the crystalline structure in that state. Since that is too hard for most things, you temper it. Heating to a certain temp lets ~some~ of the crystals dissolve away. Annealing is heating and letting it cool slowly, so those structures will break up back into carbon and iron, leaving the steel soft. It's like a little atomic machine - crystals form, dissolve away, form again, with heat. It's waaaaay deeper than just that in detail, but that's the gist of it.
