- 1. all steel blades are tempered, whether they are high carbon blades or low carbon blades. 2. It depends on what kind of steel they are made from. So im going to answer this question, using the following qualifications. 440A stainless steel 440C stainless steel - high carbon. The higher the carbon level, the more brittle a blade becomes. But the higher the carbon level, will increase a steel’s wear resistance , meaning it will have a better edge retention 2. They both will work well. Pros's / Con's The 440C blades will need less sharpening, but are harder to sharpen The 4401 blades will need to be sharpened more, but are far easier to resharpen. So it basically comes down to where you will be using them and how you will be using them. If your gonna be out in the middle of the jungle and stopping for the night, then the high carbon blade would probably be better, you use it all day, resharpen it at night. If your gonna be cutting brush, tobbaco, etc on your land, then the 440A would be better, because you can take a couple of min's to resharpen it often

- Q:Why is it usually scorned by the shooting community to use steel cased ammo (like Wolf)? Always hear corrosive and steel is bad for the extractor/firing pin. Hulp a simpleton out!
- if you were going to shoot thousands upon thousands of steel cases in your rifle, it would cause more wear than brass cases do. but for the casual shooter, it won't be a significant factor. Corrosive ammo is another story (but not all steel cased ammo is corrosive, and any made after 1975 is not corrosive). shooting corrosive ammo in a bolt gun is simple to care for. When finished shooting, simply clean out the barrel, chamber and bolt face etc with hot soapy water, or military bore cleaner. This nuetralizes the corrosive chemicals. then dry it well, and then do your normal clean and lube with break free CLP or whatever other lube you prefer. But for a semi auto, gas operated firearm, the cleaning process takes hours, with having to tear it down and clean every part including gas tube etc. As for the ectractor, same answer as above, since an extractor slides in front of the rim as the cartridge is fed, it really does not add much more wear if it is steel. The firing pin does not contact the steel case, only the primer, so no additional wear there. The biggest problem with wolf ammo is encountered when you fire a lot of rounds quickly, building up a lot of heat, which can cause the lacquer sealent on the case to turn gummy and this in turn will cause problems for the firearm. Answer? first, use wolf ammo for casual shooting and clean the firearm extensively afterwords. Save your better ammo for real life situations. I understand that some of the newer wolf ammo does not use the same lacquer sealant. I believe it is called silver bear, but don't quote me becasue I can't swear that that is it. shoot safe

- Steel coil is the name given to thinner sheet steel when it is manufactured - it comes out of the machine and is formed into a coil for ease of handling storage and transportation. Thin sheet steel is used for plenty of stuff. It can be slit (cut) into thin strips as well as just cropped and used at one of the standard lengths x widths it leaves the mill. There is a big market for this material. It is used in many construction and engineering applications for things like ducting, boxes, gutters, down pipes, flashings, panels, car bodies etc., anything made of thin steel Galvanising is a flash coating of zinc which improves it's corrosion resitance. Cost wise it is a relatively cheap material. The chemical composition of steel varies, it is mostly iron but has various other elements added or present as impurities that change it's characteristics, depending on the end use. These additional elements can be selected to give better weld ability, hardness, tensile strength, corrosion resistance, flexibility and so on. In many applications excess of these chemicals is undesirable. For example sulphur and carbon are generally better at lower levels. The chemical composition data is contained in a material data sheet and expressed as a percentage of the chemical present and which gives the composition of a particular batch of steel, allowing it to be selected for particular applications and traced for quality assurance purposes.
