- I don't follow your calculations. It seems to me that the piece you show could be made from .01 steel and still be less than a pound. Also, it is hard to get steel thinner than .015 because anything thinner is not very useful. If you made it out of .015 steel and used a high strength steel, it might be useful. You wouldn't be bashing any skulls, but with some spikes on the end, it could do some damage, and protect against knives or other hand weapons. You also won't get any bullet resistance out of anything that thin. If you want to bash skulls and deflect bullets, you have to get up to at least .10 and several pounds. Any weight on your hands slows down the speed of your punch, but this is compensated for by the increased energy of impact carried by the extra mass. Also, having something hard to protect your hands allows for harder hits and more damage to the opponent. An interesting idea, but it would take some testing to figure out the optimum configuration. One problem I see is that it completely encloses the hand, making it impossible to use the hand for anything else. So you would have to put it on and take it off a lot, and there would be cases where you wouldn't be able to put it on when you needed it. For that reason, I would not wear two at one time. I would make it heavier and wear it on one hand for bashing skulls and deflecting weapons, and keep the other hand free for other things.

A small 6-10 foot kettle would work fine for spinner work (small parts ran in baskets) but if you want to handle large beams and so forth you will need to have at least a 25 foot or longer kettle. You will need tanks for caustic,acid,rinsing,and preflux solutions. If you go with sulfuric acid it will have to be heated. The caustic and flux tanks need to be heated in any case.You will also need a bag house to control smoke coming off the kettle. - There are many makers that use blue on there Damascus. My question, what the heck are you wanting to mess with the finish for? If you had a true Damascus blade made that that thing cost a fortune, and I don't mean under a grand either. Then there is the question of what it is made from, some steel combinations react well to the gun blue, others not so much. If it is a stainless blade it won't work at all and you shouldn't be using it either. I can tell you, my Damascus blades start at $100 for a small cable knife and go up from there. If you wanted a sword it would push 10 g's easy. None of my customers would mess with the finish, most would cry if it got scratched. If it's has a pretty pattern don't mess with it.

- Sergical steel means they are earings for sensitive ears. If she borrows them make sure you sanitize them before she wears them.

- Im a huge fan of steel frames. #1. they dont feel like they are bouncing off things like aluminum #2. they absorb more vibrations #3. they can be fixed if you wreck them #4. They dont weigh much more (if anymore) then aluminum #5. you are in a very limited clique #6. a steel frame will far out-live an aluminum frame. #7. it doesnt sound like your riding a tin can. #8. break a hose or cable guide, and you simply can take it down to your local muffler shop and have them weld one back on.. an aluminum frame is so fragile it will probably have to be replaced. Aluminum frames do have their pluses. #1. they are very stiff #2. you dont have to worry about rust #3. every company on the planet makes aluminum frames so they are easy to find... #4. looks. because aluminum is so stiff, there are some very radical frame designs. steel frames are just boring to look at. if you like steel frames, you wont want to go to aluminum. if you like aluminum, you could consider steel.
