PORTLAND CEMENT

Portland cement is the most common type of cement in general use around the world, used as a basic ingredient of concrete, mortar, stucco, and most non-specialty grout.

It is a fine powder produced by heating materials in a kiln to form what is called clinker, grinding the clinker, and adding small amounts of other materials.

Several types of Portland cement are available with the most common being called ordinary Portland cement (OPC) which is grey in color, but a white Portland cement is also available.

Such application as pre-cast panels and systems, cast-in-place, masonry units, tilt-up panel systems, roofing tiles, terrazzo floors, highway median barriers, tile grout, swimming pools, stucco, culture stone, colored masonry products, cement paints and coatings, and ornamental precast concrete items.

Q:What do you fill a hole in the wall with cement or with putty? And does cement come already mixed?
Is the wall interior or exterior? What's it made of? How big is the hole? How deep is the hole? All these make a difference.
Q:Are they like the same...different? Idk
Cement is the stuff that binds the aggregate together. A common type of cement is Portland Cement. The stuff is like sand. It's not hard and it can come in bags. You can pour it out. When you mix cement with water and aggregate then let the mixture set, it becomes hard, almost like stone. It becomes concrete. After it has hardened, you can drive a tractor trailer over it or build a fairly tall building on top of it.
Q:.. blems? The house we are considering buying is about $125,000.00 It has 4 bdrms 1 bath built in 1910. 2,330 sqf. The basement has crumbling cement in the half and dark paneling in the other half. Those are the only problems with the house. are these doable to fix? tear down the cement and re cement, is it expensive, or painting or putting dry wall over the paneling. what do you think?
if the concrete basement walls are not structurally sound, repairs can get really expensive really fast. on the other hand, if the surface is spalling (flaking off small amounts) and the concrete is still structurally sound, I believe there are remedies that can be effective. as for the paneling, that is relatively easy. sheetrock looks better if a professional does it than a first time DIY person, but with patience a DIY can do a reasonable job of it. you can also paint paneling, but if it's a slick finish, then you will need to do some prep work. clean it well, and then scuff the surface with fine sandpaper, or use a high dollar primer, or both, and then the paint should stay on reasonably well.
Q:Some say it is, some say it isn't. I'm wanting to create a vaulted tunnel below grade and I need it to be able to resist the standard tendency for cement fines to wash away in wet conditions.
Most construction cements today are hydraulic, and most of these are based on Portland cement, which is made primarily from limestone, certain clay minerals, and gypsum in a high temperature process that drives off carbon dioxide and chemically combines the primary ingredients into new compounds. Non-hydraulic cements include such materials as (non-hydraulic) lime and gypsum plasters, which must be kept dry in order to gain strength, and oxychloride cements, which have liquid components. Lime mortars, for example, set only by drying out, and gain strength only very slowly by absorption of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere to re-form calcium carbonate through carbonatation.
Q:i need to cement some blocks in my my garden any help
Just use the same unit size for each part, like 1 shovel cement and 3 shovel sand, or 1 bucket cement and 3 buckets sand, that's all. you just need to be close.
Q:My Albanian friend said he is going to get me a pair of quot;cement shoesquot; for my birthday. What do you think he meant by that? Is that some sort of Albanian lingo?
its mob language for dumping someone in the water to drown them
Q:i would like to match the cement on my driveway. i have a small patchthat i need to fill in. the driveway is a very light gray. which cement would i use to match the shade.
the odds are you will never match it-as concrete dries it changes shades
Q:please can someone help me??
Here are my TOP TEN responses to describing porridge... as thick as WET cement and as bland as: 10. cardboard 9. a rice cake 8. wax fruit 7. elevator music 6. George Bush's personality 5. a glass of water 4. a bowl of sand 3. my 9th grade History teacher 2. a cotton ball 1. well, ...wet cement
Q:And if so, can it be used instead of poly cement, or are they used to glue different different things?
Liquid poly is very liquid, it's useful for brushing onto large, flat surfaces or for very, very tiny parts, but generally normal poly cement is the thing to use. Never squeeze the tube! If you have to squeeze it means the nozzle is blocked; unblock the nozzle with a pin and hold the tube downward with the the the tiniest amount of pressure until the glue starts to flow. If you squeeze, there will be a 1 minute delay but then it'll come pouring out. Don't use poly cement unless you are sure you want a permanent weld; if you want a bond that can be broken apart (useful when you notice an error) use superglue or a hybrid epoxy. I use Zap-A-Gap quite a lot.
Q:do i have to put any thing down on the painted floor FIRST?
More information is required. Are you placing tile on something? Thin set is for installing ceramic tile over a solid surface floor.
