PORTLAND CEMENT
Portland cement is the most common type of cement in general use around the world, used as a basic ingredient of concrete, mortar, stucco, and most non-specialty grout.
It is a fine powder produced by heating materials in a kiln to form what is called clinker, grinding the clinker, and adding small amounts of other materials.
Several types of Portland cement are available with the most common being called ordinary Portland cement (OPC) which is grey in color, but a white Portland cement is also available.
Application

- Q:is a backhand spring on the grass any differant than a backhand spring on cement? does it hurt? i realy want to do it on cement after i get it on the grass. any help?!
- Cement, in my opinion, is harder. Because you don't have as much spring as you do on the grass. Also, you can always fall and hurt yourself twice as badly on the cement if something goes wrong.

- most hardware stores carry it...either as bags of portland cement or premixed bags of concrete...for amounts up to a cubic yard you might get by using premixed if you have enough help mixing and placing so you dont get any cold joints...for pours more than a cu. yd. you should get a truck in and eat the extra trucking charge because you will probably not be able to mix and place it fast enough...
- Q:My contractor put in a couple of feet of cement board around the lower tub region, but on the upper half of the tub (shower head portion) he put in drywall. He taped the joint where the drywall and cement board meet. A friend who has done some tiling told me that there could be movement on the joints between the cement board and the drywall, which would cause the grout to fail and start to come out. He also didn't like that drywall was used.
- Not like it was done there for a couple reasons. 1st the tile needs to bond to the cement boards at a minimum of six foot in a shower.And a minimum of 5 ft in a tub surround. Going to the ceiling is better , but tile should bond to the cement board if you want it to last. 2nd you should never tape w/ dry wall mud and bond to that. Water will destroy it of time and it will lose its bond.Any taping done at the joint should be done w/ cement board tape and thinset so as the water wont harm it.Any questions you can e mail me thru my avatar and check out my qualifications. - Q:I just bought this model and it's my first one doing it lol I was just curious that if after I painted one part and went to glue another onto the painted plastic, will it stick? Or will something else bad happen, or will it be perfectly fine? I just don't want to ruin it =( The glue I have is Testors Cement for Plastic Models and the paint is also Testors Enamel paint.
- No it will not stick, the plastic cement will not melt the painted surface - what you need to do is to remove the painted area where the parts are to be glued and stuck together. The glue you have is designed to melt the surface of the plastic and then when stuck together , the melted/dissolved plastic area will bond together and when it dries, will form a firm bond To remove the paint, you can use an emery board or a curved hobby blade and scrape away the painted area. - it depends....is the cement painted or polished? is it usually dirty? these can make it much more slippery than it would be if it is none of these. I skate on a polished cement track which was covered in epoxy and is super slippery. I use Sugar hybrid wheels because they are super grippy. If the cement isn't polished you should probably use harder wheels.

- Q:I am planning on laying vinyl sheet flooring in my kitchen floor. Can I use cement backer board as an underlayment.
- I'm a tiler and a Hardwood installer. Backer board is specifically used for tile. The board is designed to created a strong and rigid bond to the subfloor. There's always movement in a structure and if you skip backerboard then your tile moves with the natural flexing of the house causing cracking in the tile and grout. Viny is flexible so all you need to do is to remove existing flooring and lay right on the subfloor.

- you can try acetone and a brush but heat / fire will pit and discolor concrete..
- Q:What is rubber cement and where can i get it?
- Cause morons started sniffing it and melting their brains so stores had to take it off the shelf. Some hardware stores will have it behind the counter or elsewhere and you have to ask the clerk for it. Arts and craft stores still sell it. Sorry, never heard of univeral cement.
