PORTLAND CEMENT
Portland cement is the most common type of cement in general use around the world, used as a basic ingredient of concrete, mortar, stucco, and most non-specialty grout.
It is a fine powder produced by heating materials in a kiln to form what is called clinker, grinding the clinker, and adding small amounts of other materials.
Several types of Portland cement are available with the most common being called ordinary Portland cement (OPC) which is grey in color, but a white Portland cement is also available.
Application

- Q:I have a crown that keeps coming loose and the dental cement does not seem to keep it attached. My husband seems to think I should try to super glue it back on. I think he is sniffing the super glue. What do you think?
- step away from the super glue...Probably the reason your crown keeps coming off is becuase there is decay on the tooth you need to get to the dentist and see what is going on with it. If there isn't any decay then they can just cement it back on and you should be good to go but you do need to go and get it checked. Good Luck

- Q:i was told not to use anything that would seal the cement, and that the object needs to breath.
- As a rule, sealing cement as with other porous materials is generally a good idea. The reason being is that should moisture absorb into the cement with a nice coat of paint, the first thing to happen is that the paint can pop off. In chunks if it's oil or thin flakes in latex. Either way I would suggest painting with any finish you like and use coat of xterior primer as well. Otherwise, your turtle will continue to drink all the paint you could put on it.
- Q:I have dark cement flooring in my garage. Today my son left a leaking mini bottle of grape juice to leak. There is a large very dark stain from the grape juice. How can I get the stain out?
- Get some cement cleaner, and be prepared to do some scrubbing. A floor scrubber would make the job easier, although the rent might be an issue for you. They generally are not expensive, but there is still that cost to consider. After you get the stain out, provided that you can, put a cement sealer on that floor. Use at least 2 coats, 3 would be better.

- Actually, you mean concrete, not cement. Should be fine, it's done all the time. What are the dimensions? He may have mixed the concrete improperly (wrong ratio or too wet). We need more info. about the whole installation-soil, slope, drainage, radius if it's curved, etc.. A photo would be really helpful.

- Only way is to use a hammer and chisel. It would have been easier if you said what the white cement was on. Is it a driveway? or cement splattered on something.
- Q:I can see the cracks in the basin of the birdbath and when I fill the bath, there is a slow leak which drains the birdbath in about 1/2 hour. Is there some non-toxic way to fix the cracks?
- Use an aquarium safe silicon caulk. Most pet stores carry it as well as most large home improvement stores. It will say on the tube that it is safe for aquariums.
