- Since aluminum only has 3 valence electrons it will be missing two electrons from its octet. This means that one of the chloride groups must share an extra electron group with the aluminum. Any three of the chlorides can share an extra electron pair with it (i.e. they'll have 2 lines attached to aluminum), so there is resonance. There are 3 to be specific, one for each chloride sharing another electron pair with Al.
- Q:why does aluminum sheet not react with sulfuric acid nut react with hydrochloric acid?
- aluminum reacts with hydrochloric acid,generating aluminium chloride which can dissolve in water. but aluminum reacts with sulfuric acid, generating aluminum sulfate which can't dissolve in water and will generate aluminum sulfate, a layer of protective film, preventing aluminum from reacting with sulfuric acid, so there is no significant phenomena.

- Aluminum has been outlawed due to corrosion issues. Actually, that is a good price. As for wire gage, 14-2 will be adequate, but when I did my house, I insisted upon 12-2 through out. It doesn't cost that much more and you will avoid the possibility of overheating or over load issues.

- Al is not reactive because it is so reactive - it gets coated with oxide immediately on exposure, the oxide layer is strong and quite inert except to strong acids.
