Q:...particularly for jewelry?
Stainless steel is steel with lots of carbon in it. The amount of carbon gives it a so called grade. Marine grade, surgical grade etc.
Q:What is the average amount carbon emissions of steel per pound produced?
Carbon okorder /... - Similar pages - Life-cycle energy and emissions of marine energy devices | Carbon ...Carbon dioxide emissions per unit mass of steel: 1.75 tCO2/tonne steel ; Total mass of steel in device: 665 tonnes ; Carbon dioxide emissions due to .
Q:I installed it, added it in F3 launcher and then after one minute of walking in wasteland I get a signal that Broken steel was added and that my level of caps was raised by 30. However after this message no quest is added. I played all 4 exp. packs and I had no problem at all, each time a new quest was added. So whats up with this Broken steel. Btw, I completed the entire game F3.
Yeah you awaken after the ending cutscene in case you have it put in and then yet another quest line is given to you and you will circulate on your merry way doing in spite of you experience like.
Q:How would you calculate the maximum plastic deformation (expansion) a steel pipe can handle before it actually fails?
You can calculate the maximum reversible strain, for elastic loading as follows: You need to look up the yield strength (for that particular type of steel). Divide this yield strength by the elastic modulus of steel (also called Young's modulus). That gives you the strain at the onset of yielding, the maximum you can strain the steel fibers before crossing the point of no return. If you are interested in the strain until failure, you need to take tensile test measurements. Seldom do people document an equation to model the non-elastic portion of the stress-strain curve of the specimen, because seldom do we design systems to operate with materials which yield. We want systems which only deform reversibly and elastically. This means you need to perform an experiment to find what you are actually desiring to know.
Q:Climbing ropes used by mountaineers are usually made of nylon. Would steel cable of equal strength as the nylon be just as good? What advantages and disadvantages would it have compared to the nylon?
steel is NOT as flexible and much slipperier if you fall the nylon stretches to slow the victim but a steel cable would stop short and kill you
Q:Whats the difference in composition? When LTCS is used generally?Whats the temperature range, that these materials can be used? Is there any relation between Killed carbon steel, LTCS, stainless steel, carbon steel(normal)? How to categorise/classify these?Thankyou very much in advance..
When exposed to elevated temperatures, quenched and tempered steels are more susceptible than normalized steels to permanent reduction in strength. This is especially true when exposure temperature begins to approach tempering temperature used when the parts were produced. In addition to losing strength, tempered steels also may experience reduced impact toughness after being exposed to long-term elevated temperatures. General belief is that this is the reason for LCC's reduced maximum allowable temperature limit of 345°C / 650°F in B16.34.
Q:Does SA use its own iron ore to produce steel for construction or do we rely on imports?
There is a ludicrous mixture of the two at present. We export a large percentage of our steel to China predominantly but also to other regions then import what ever the shortfall is on the local market, often at inflated prices. The company I work for obtains all its steel from only one supplier, who we have shares in, and under the counter cash incentives are the order of the day, I keep myself above water by refusing the cash and sign no documents relating to those dealings, I'm not prepared to go to prison for a cash bonus.
Q:Explain why a steel nail sinks but a steel ship floats.
A steel nail is much denser than the water. That means that it weighs more than an equivalent volume of water. Therefore, the buoyancy is never going to be enough to hold it up. Whether it is a big steel nail or a small one, it will always be too dense for the water to support it. Because of its shape, a steel ship is not as dense as water. It is not made out of a solid block of steel. Instead, the hull is built of thin plates of steel enclosing an open space. A steel ship is sort of like an empty cup. Although its sides are hard and dense, it holds a lot of air in the middle. Since air weighs almost nothing, it lowers the overall density of the ship to a point where its buoyancy exceeds its weight, and the ship floats. Think of it as you trying to sink a balloon.
Q:I have a set of Stainless steel pots and pans. Everything is sticks to them. What must I do so things don't stick?
Stainless is great for many things but not so great for some others. Where you want sticking is when you saute meat. You want those crusty brown bits that when the pan is deglazed are the makings of a great sauce. Get yourself one or two non stick pans (preferably with a metal handle so it can go from stove top to oven). Use those where you wish to avoid sticking (like eggs / omelets, french toast or pancakes. Keep in mind that no one pan type is universally good for all types of cooking. My kitchen is mostly stocked with layered stainless steel. I have a few non-stick skillets, a carbon steel wok, a few cast iron skillets, an enameled cast iron dutch oven (le creuset), and a copper sauce pan. Each has its own use.
Q:(I'm not sure if steel is in fact a mineral)But I want to know if .. Last say topaz is stronger/harder then steel
Well!! Steel is NOT a Mineral. It is an alloy!! A Mineral is a naturally occurring substance. An alloy is a mixture or metallic solid solution composed of two or more elements which is made artificially!! Also we cannot compare minerals and non minerals using strength. The only way to compare is by Hardness.. ON hardness Scale, Quartz, Topaz, Diamond, etc are HARDER than Steel
