Non-asbestos Waterproof Fireproof Fiber Cement Board

Q:We recently bought a house with a corner tub in the master bathroom. There was a partially covered pipe for a shower head but the walls are not waterproof. Since the plumbing is there for a shower we would like to waterproof the walls and put in a shower head. Is there a chance the builder put up cement board but skipped tiling? Is there a way to tell without ripping the walls down? Also I'm wondering if we need to tear down the existing drywall and put up cement board or if we can just use a type of acrylic shower wall and caulk it really well. Any advice would be appreciated.
extremely tough stuff lookup with google that may help
Q:When I was replacing vanity in small bathroom, I discovered that old vanity was sitting on top of the wooden sub-floor while the rest of the floor (with ceramic tile) is about whole inch above the sub-floor. I'm planning to install tile (never did it before) and I've read that you attach cement backer board to sub-floor and use adhesive to attach tiles. However cement boards are sold in 1/2 thickness. What should I do to make whole sandwich (board, adhesive, tile) to be on the same level as rest of the tile floor? I'd much appreciate any suggestions! :)
you can use floor leveller. you can but it at home depot,$35, follow the instuctions as far as how much water to add. it mixes into a watery slurry that levels it self once poured. it hardens as hard as cement and then you can glue your tile to it.
Q:i would also like to know what products might help me. Thanks :) Oh, and the type of board i got is called hardi-bord... i didnt know if that might help.
This Site Might Help You. RE: Do I need to water seal a cement board that would sit behind tiles in my shower before i tile it? i would also like to know what products might help me. Thanks :) Oh, and the type of board i got is called hardi-bord... i didnt know if that might help.
Q:I want to lay some tile on a portion of the garage where we are putting in a small kitchen for garage use. If the floor is new would you have to lay cement board down on top of new cement before tiling?
No, there is no need . You have a very good base w/ the cement.. One caution is though.. You should wait a mini mun of the days for enough moisture to go out of the cement. This varies w/ humidity and heat, but 30 days is an average GL
Q:I have a 5x20 room off my basement which sits under my front porch. All four walls of the room are cement block all the way up to the ceiling which is the cement slab from the porch above. There is a wood ceiling in the room that has gotten wet from leaks above. Is it safe to remove the wood joists and plywood in that room, fix the leaks and replace it? This doesn't support any weight from the slab above, does it? I assume that it was probably used as the bottom of the form when the slab was poured. Also, when I replace the ceiling, can I attach the ledger board using concrete sleeve anchors? Can these be fastened into the block wall? I'm not sure if they are hollow or have been filled with gravel or concrete. I plan on using the ledger board to fasten joist hanger to and frame back up my ceiling for insulation and wiring. The current ledger is attached with masonry nails. Any thoughts?
Your ceiling may very well be no more than the bottom forms for the slab, but you really need to make sure. Attempting to seal the concrete slab from the underside isn't advisable. Concrete draws moisture, so you will always have a seepage problem after you're finished. I'd suggest sealing the slab on the surface and make sure it quit weeping before proceeding with the remainder of your project. Not all concrete blocks are filled. To secure your ledger board I'd suggest using a lag bolt with a lead spread type toggle. Drill into the block and insert to lead, which will hold the lag bolt. Hope this has been some help. Good Luck
Q:What do you use under the tiles, and do you still use grout as well?
Normally you install tiles over a concrete slab using modified thinset for exterior use. Regards, Dale
Q:Home studio decoration, do noise wall, is the effect of good gypsum board or cement fiber pressure plate effect is good
Sound insulation generally follow the law of quality that the greater the density of the better sound insulation. 12mm paper gypsum board surface density of about 8.8kg / ㎡, the average volume of 25dB; 9mm fiber cement pressure plate (FC board) surface density of about 6kg / ㎡, the average volume of 30dB; In summary, the cement pressure Board sound insulation effect is higher than the paper gypsum board.

Your pushing your board back with your feet. Try not to do this and practice. The only way to be good in skateboarding is practicing everything hard.
Q:Do the ceiling is good or good with gypsum board good
The composition of the Etter board The Aite board is mainly composed of cement, selected minerals, high pressure autoclaved by flow slurry method, it is a fiber reinforced silicate plate, also known as fiber cement board. 2, the performance of the board Eute board waterproof performance, can be used in the bathroom to do the partition, in the outdoor roof roof, or the external wall with the board can also be used Eide board, it can be in a long damp environment to maintain stability.
Q:A list of US suppliers is here w/ some discussion.
Haven't experienced it but from what I read in your link, it gets hung/nailed like drywall and underlayment. If you're not familiar with how to hang drywall, the first link is a very informative step by step video. Second link, though not a video is how to install cement board/fiber underlayment. Hope this will be of help to you - good luck!
