- Q:i have one of those music chairs with the 2 speakers, and subwoofer, but is there a way to take that awful subwoofer out and put in a new one? theres not a place to unzip the chair or anything, but the subwoofer distorts on about every song that i play. and what can i replace it with to make it have a lil bass without distortion?
- Interesting question...let's see if I can be of any help. The way I see it, you have roughly two choices here (3 actually, but I'll save it for last.) 1) You can take the chair apart to get to the speaker, take it out and either replace it with a similar one (like a car subwoofer speaker - check the Ohm rating) or get the broken one fixed. 2) You could bypass the subwoofer altogether - but you'd have to find the wires to it and carefully disconnect them without shorting them. Then go and buy another inexpensive subwoofer, hook it up directly to your receiver (assuming that you had a receiver driving the chair system) - making sure to place the sub right next to (or under) the chair - to get a similar butt massage effect from the bass. or 3) toss the whole mess out. graduate and get a real speaker/subwoofer set up instead. Hope this kind of helps. I was serious with the first two ideas, the thrid was admittedly a wee bit glib. Please forgive me.

- So are you asking how to reupholster the back of a small chair? Cut a piece of fabric at least 6 bigger on all sides, get a piece of batting 1/2 smaller all around than the area being covered and a staple or glue gun. Put the batting on the area to be covered, cover it in the fabric and pull the fabric to the back, securing with staples and or glue. Standard upholstery. Other wise, make a pillow the right size and shape and then tie it in place. I would add more detail to the question, maybe a pic of the chair?
- Q:My five year old hyperactive son did what he is not allowed to do, eat in the living room. We have a white/off white Ikea Tullsta or Solsta chair (the smaller one on light wood legs). He has smeared food on there and I have tried everything to get the stains out. Tuff Stuff foam, carpet cleaner, and a few other cleaners and nothing is working. The only other thing I haven't tried is the cleaning hose with my carper shampooer because I can't find it. Is there a chemical to bleach this fabric and get these stains out or what can I do? - A professional carpet cleaner would put together a cleaning solution, probably including a product with Oxy clean laundry detergent, 12 per cent hydrogen peroxide, warm water, brush the fabric, and then rinse and extract the stains and cleaning solution from the fabric. Attempting to clean this chair at home is an effort in futility. The hydrogen peroxide available to you is only 3 per cent. allow a pro to salvage this chair for you. When clean, have them scotchguard the fabric Good Luck.

- I have found the best is one of my old kitchen chairs. The height is right and you don't have to keep messing with it to get it just right. I use a chair cushion to make the wooden seat comfortable and have a small cushion for the back when I need it. You can just drop the cushions in the washer and dryer when needed and it will fluff the pillow up again.

- I don't know what make and model your chair is, and thus what features it has, BUT... most of these chairs has a pneumatic cylinder in the support column, and for adjusting seat height, a LEVER beneath the seat, usually near the right front corner as you sit in the chair. To use this type of adjustment, you press the handle upward against the bottom of the seat, and THEN sit on it, forcing the seat down. When the seat is down, or at the desired elevation, release the handle, and the seat should stay there. If you want the seat at a higher level, remove ALL load from the seat, press the release handle, and a spring should lift the seat. Then when you have the desired height, release the handle and the seat should stay at that level. IF the seat is raising all by itself when you're not sitting on it, I suspect that the adjusting VALVE is not seating properly, and allows air back into the cylinder, and the spring raises the seat [sort of like magic!!!!]. Turn the chair over and check the valve [if it's not concealed] and look for lint or debris which is keeping the valve from fully seating and sealing the vent hole. IF the chair is new, I recommend returning it to the place you bought it and REQUEST REPLACEMENT on the basis that the chair is DEFECTIVE. If it's not new, then it's a matter of either cleaning the valve, or if it's not blocked, then repairing it so it can seat [and seal] properly.

- Well it depends really. Do you plan having it at a facility designed for weddings? Or at the beach? If you had it at a wedding-specific location, the chairs should be available within the cost of the hall rental. I would advise you do rent chairs. Are you going to be inviting older guests? Some people have leg/back problems and are unable to stand up for more than 15 minutes at a time. Receptions tend to be 3-5 hours long. Having no chairs would leave your guests in aches and pains, rather than having a fun time celebrating your day! Chairs are not that expensive if you look around for the best price. :) If you do rent chairs, make sure that the signed agreement states the chairs are in pristine condition. I rented tables and they were scuffed and just in horrible condition. Thank goodness for table linens! Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials!! :)
