Q:so i just bought a stainless steel bracelet.......and recently found out that stainless steel isnt actually stainless..........will turpentine ruin it
real s/steel is nickel and chrome, however manufacturers of kitchenware, e.g s/teel cutlery use the cheaper version of nickel chrome and iron, that is why some s/steel products rust, so if you want to test any products carry asmall magnet and test the article
Q:how do i quinch steel? i heard instead of water oil will actually make it harder... wat ways are best for wat steels? and how do i tell wat kind of steel i have?... i will be doin this with my poket knife..
boy what a though question ! let me explain. when you rapidly cool a steel from high temperatures(depending on steel type) with water or oil or other means , it is called quenching. it depends on the steel type to say if it is better to quench it with oil or water but basically in water you will have a harder steel rather than oil. for some steels if you do this you will ruin it's properties ! you can't totally tell what kind of steel do you have until you get it analyzed with Quantometer analyzer with a pocket knife it is more like an estimation and it can't be trust able generally if you can scratch the steel with your knife it means it is not a hard steel and it might not be expensive. I hope that helps but for more information i need to know more !
Q:I expect that I will be questioned about my knowledge in methoding for steel castings, in a interview. I dont know about it. Can someone explain me in simple language and give me some links, like how I can explain methoding for steel castings.....key points...help please...so that i will pass the interview as if I have experience in methoding....thanks
It is very difficult to define Methoding of Steel castings by one sentence. Actually it encompasses the total casting process. Normally it would mean a) Pattern design i.e. what type of pattern it would be- wooden, metallic, split or full, loose or fitted on a match plate or any other, how will be the parting line. b) Design of the gating system. c) Design of risering i.e. numbers, size and location of risers. d) Design of molding process i.e. sand system to be used, mold box size. But to do justice to the above mentioned activities, you need to consider other parameters of the casting process such as chemical composition, solidification characteristics, pouring temperature, pouring time, knock out time etc. As I said Methoding of Steel castings means designing of the total casting process from inception to final product.
Q:I'm kind of confused as to how the difference between a stainless steel and blued steel firearm is sometimes only $20 or so. Isn't stainless steel fairly more expensive to manufacture than plain carbon steel? Are some stainless steel firearms simply stainless steel finished with carbon steel underneath?
Stainless guns are made out of stainless steel. Now there are also guns that are coated in nickel. Those are made of the usual gun steel. Stainless steel isn't really that much more expensive than normal steel when bought in large quanities.
Q:Can i make holes in iron and steel with somekind of drill bit. All i have is metal drill bits. Mabey like 68 of them but i dont know wich one to use and if they will penetrate.
Drills are used to make holes in steel all the time.
Q:could anybody tell me the the weight of a cubic metre of mild steel? and where to get this info from?
i thnk 7.85 the density of ms is 7.85 kg/cm2 and formula is density=mass/volume u have volume=1m3 7.85*1=mass so 7.85 kg
Q:hey... i don't need to change my strings, but i found a set of Bronze acoustic guitar strings by pure tone... i have a few questions on them:can i put them on a steel string guitar? i know i can't put nylon strings on... but i don't see why i can't put bronzethey are light gauze... i have no idea what my current gauze is, but i play in Dropped D tuning... so would the E/D string (6th) be too loose? finally, can you get strings designed to be played in Drop D?any help is apprechiated :D
I don't see why not. Put them on and try it out.
Q:Can you reload spent casings if they are steel?
Technically they are reloadable but it's way too much effort and it'll probably cost more to do than its worth. I know you're probably asking this for surp. 7.62x54r right? The steel will have to be fully resized every time and you should only do it 1-2 time max to be safe. Also if your ammo is berdan primed the primers are very hard to find and these are a whole different beast than boxer primed. Short answer is yes but not worth it IMO.
Q:Steel sticks- it has meaning to us -similar to my deceased father's name, Steven fits our style as people. We like the hardness of it for our little man. We need a middle name though. Open to suggestions, thank you=)
Steel Rod Tompkins Steel Blaze Tompkins Steel Adam Tompkins
Q:I am currently writing a manuscript, and would like to know whether guns made out of steel, burn or melt when exposed to flames. Thanks.
Steel melts around 2500°F (1370°C). That's hotter than most normal fires (obviously, your steel pots don't melt on the stove, do they?) but a blowtorch or something like that could do it.
