- Q:Ok, I have motorcycle classes and im afraid that I wont feel the gear shifter when shifting. So I want to make the boot softer from the toes where the steel is at so i can feel the gear shift with my toes. When i walk and bump into something by accident with my boots I dont feel anything I almost dont notice it. So I think i will be a problem since I wont be able to feel anything.

- A true structural steel building is composed of steel columns, steel bar joist,steel purlins,steel roof frames,and steel siding. This is all load bearing structural steel. The vulnerable area of a steel building is the exposure of this steel to extreme temps during a fire. Steel becomes weak at high temps and begins to twist and distort like a noodle in hot water. Most all steel buildings now are specified by the architect/engineer to have fire retardant spray applied to the key components to protect against high heat during a fire. Even with that some beams/columns are also wrapped with several layers of type x fire rated drywall. Multi story steel buildings usually have lightweight concrete poured over steel decking for all floors above the ground floor. Any and all penetrations in these concrete floors must be sealed around to stop fire and smoke from spreading from one floor to the next, and fire rated doors at all stairways to each floor. Even ductwork that runs to other floors must have fire rated dampers that close if signaled by a sensor, this stops smoke/fire from spreading through the ductwork. Sprinkler systems are usually required in new structures that exceed at pre-determined square footage by the state you are in. Hope this helps you out.

- 316L steel is the most basic metal used in body jewelry. It is the basic requirement of metal to be used in initial piercings and for healing. There are better grades but usually they cost more as well. For most people this grade of steel works just fine. Titanium is usually preferred over steel because it contains no nickel and it weighs almost 50% less than steel. Titanium can come in plain polish which looks just like steel AND it can come in a variety of colors (but NOT red or black). Titanium is super for people with sensitive skin to steel. It does cost a little more but is well worth it.
- Q:so I am trying to drill holes in stainless steel shelving to hang something but my drill wont make any more than a small dent in the steel. I bought a bit for hard metals but it didn't do any better. I have an admittedly small drill (9.6v). is that the problem? do I just need a more powerful drill? any serious advice is appreciated. thanks
- As long as it turns the bit, the power, (torque), at the drill is not a factor. 1. The bit you have is probably ruined by overheating. replace it. (See 3. below). 2. Do use water or cutting oil to cool your drill bit. 3. If you're drilling more than a very small hole, start with a small pilot bit to make the first hole, then follow with the larger full size bit.

But its not like they could make a steel smelter/furnace out of sand...they would need an older one to use to make the new one...where the hell did the first one come from then????
- originally steel was made by hand- by hammering an iron ingot (easily obtained from turf iron), heating it in coal (allows the carbon to penetrate the iron) then folding it and hammering it again- several hundred times. with each such procedure the iron absorbs more carbon and becomes steel of course steel smelters made this process simpler- but then you can't get damascene steel out of a smelter... the island civilisations could make smelters out of clay. But finding clay or iron ore on a coral island would be a forlorn task
