Q:When steel is cast, does it become weaker/more brittle or anything of this nature? what are the side effects of steel casting on the steel itself? How can you correct these?
Cast steel uses specific alloys of steel designed to improve the casting process. It has a specific strength and toughness range based on the alloying ingredients. It physical properties are a bit different from rolled steel. The primary problems with casting steel are porosity and voids or spaces where the mold is not completely filled with molten steel. These do not effect the basic strength of the steel but they can degrade the ability of the casting to function as designed.
Q:I made a wood crossbow body but all I need is a bow which I want to be metal. I've used a thin steel sheet that I cut to appropriate size but when it bent with the string strung, it never went to original shape after being shot. I used a slightly thicker and it wouldn't bend at all. Anybody know what thickness and type to use? Any real answers are very appreciated. Thanks.
So i do know way more about compound bows than I do about crossbows, but i'm going to enterprise an opinion. For my part, i would probably lean toward the compound bow. A part of it's only that i like them higher. However, moreover to that, more often than not when you find yourself hunting you will carry the crossbow loaded, on the grounds that the are typically awkward to load when you have the shot. If you're hunting from a blind or from a tree stand (and might figure out easy methods to load the item whilst you're up there) that's almost always ok. But when you need to tote a crossbow round whilst it's loaded, that may be a bit dicier proposition. Most crossbow safeties are lovely crude making the likelihood of by chance firing one alot bigger than with a rifle. Now, to the plus facet, a crossbow has essentially the entire upside of firing a rifle - best accuracy, same ergonomics, can run a scope on them. Without the downside - no real recoil, no longer too loud and you simply have a lovely excellent trigger on about any of them. Compounds are way more work. Plus it is much tougher to be accurate under stress with a compound than a crossbow. Regarding the protection? Don't particularly find out about that. After I was once doing shooting alot of archery, my 3 - D bow for outdoor stuff was once at ninety two pounds with a fifty five% letoff. My goal bow was once round 60. I had to pretty on the whole take care of string stretch, and tuning with the three - D bow. So i'd expect a crossbow to be in that regional. 5 hours to your nearest Bass pro? Good for a crossbow perhaps it's valued at it because no longer too many places raise them. Nonetheless, should you do back to a compound bow it appears rough to feel that would be your nearest archery professional shop. Thinkingblade
Q:so i've started learning to play guitar in the past few weeks, and i'm using my sister's old guitar which isn't in very good condition, so i'm planning on buying a new one, but which would be better to buy, nylon string or steel string?
it all depends nylon is faster, and brighter than steel, but is available only on acoustic as coil pickups won't detect them(only peizo will). That is one reason. Another is price, you tend to replace the nylon more often as it is weaker, and less resistant to corrision. EVEN THOUGH strings have a larger price range, and be cheaper than steel, or considerably more expensive. overall the nylon is brighter, but quite-er. Steel is louder, but deeper. nylon doesn't get feedback as easily, and is amazingly fast and easy to play. some think nylon sounds old fashoined(it looks it too, with an open headstock, ond classical look(sometimes mistaken as another name for it). MY SUGGESTION- visit your local music shop and try out steel, and nylons to in person get a feel for the sound.(remember that you get what you pay for, go as high in price as you can reasonably afford) ALWAYS TRY BEFORE YOU BUY, PLAY BOTH TYPES IN THE SAME RANGE OF PRICE(at least $400), THEN DECIDE WHAT SOUNDS BETTER TO YOU(and of course feels better and easier to play).
Q:my step father bought a big steel drum grill it has steel sheets (very thin) that go inbetween the flame and the food (closer to the flame) with that there the food will not cook, it does not get hot enough????? please help... what should we do
yes that keeps the fat from dripping on the burners - just try it - it works.
Q:What are they worth today? As well as a 1943 steel nickel?
I think they are worth about a pennie.
Q:I have a set of Ben Hogan Apex Plus Forged Irons, how can i figure out if the shafts are steel or graphite?
Most steel shafts are stepped, meaning there will be a series of ridges that run down the lengeth of the shaft every few inches. Also, take a piece of metal and tap the shaft with it. If it makes a ping type of sound, its metal. If it makes a clunk sound, its graphite. Or, look out the window and ask the first person you see walking by. Unless they are younger that 10 years old, they should be able to tell you pretty easily.
Q:I saw a 27 sedan and a 27 Pick-up one had wood wheels the other steel, respectively. Witch one was original or were they both original
Wooden Spoke Wheels
Q:What is future prospect of these steel structures, are they really weather proof like everyone believes??
you are doubting the steel structure building? Well, not every compay can give the same steel building, come to Muyang, it can give you best steel structure building.
Q:Why is steel used for building purpose and not any other metal?
Steel is used for building purpose because of its steadfast quality. The steel has an intense resistance which renders it completely immune to dangers of corrosion, climatic variations, weather fluctuations and other environmental hazards, thereby making it the most suitable metal for exterior surface of the building. Internal structure of steel also helps the building to have strength at the core which enables it to stand erect for a longer time.
Q:I need to know where to go online to buy a steel cage for a wrestling ring.. Somebody please assist me?
Steel cages are made from scrap. From either loose metal or loose chains. There might be some on eBay that would be man-made
